I was going through thestate.com website and I find an article that relate to my TSTM 544 training class. The article “S.C. Employers Training Their Own” South Carolina State employers are trying to pursuit their career in the job training by the apprenticeship program. What is apprenticeship? The apprenticeship Carolina program is a combination of on-the-job training and associated classroom instruction in which workers learn the realistic and hypothetical aspects of a highly skilled pursuit. The program operates through S.C. Technical College System and helps employers find jobs without difficulty. The program started in 2007 and the number of apprentices has increased to 1,637 people in South Carolina of 2007. Last fall, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in Blythewood recruited 55 apprentices that needed employers to specialize in computer operating system called Unix. Throughout the program, forty apprentices became a Unix operator and fifteen are Oracle software developers, which is under the guidance of professionals at CSC. Most of the College undergraduate students are attending this program and most of them have been successful with their career goal. With the apprenticeship program, this is enhanced way to not rise up the percent of the unemployment but it will help increase the percent of employment. Here is the website below it and enjoy it!!

  1. That's a very interesting article! I like the fact that it hits so close to home with what we are doing. I commend both the state and CSC with doing their parts by trying to improve employability in South Carolina and beyond. With a program such as this in place, everyone involved walks away with a distinct advantage over the average college student with practically no experience. It feels good knowing that programs like this exist. It gives us some hope despite the current mess that our country is in.
